The room now being used as the formal dining room was used in the past as a downstairs bedroom. The small bath added in the mid 1940's opened into the space. To move the bath entry to a proper place a partition was added allowing for a larger bath and a formal dining space.

The plaster had suffered extensive damage under the double window. To minimize the repairs a high paneled wainscoting was added along with crown molding to give the once casual space a more formal feel.
